MARCUS ALLAN RETAINS TITLE
WITHOUT LOSING A GAME
Marcus Allan retains the Isle of Bute Youth Champion title for the second time. And he's not lost a single game throughout the competition 'Quite a feat' I'm sure you'll agree. I've been told Marcus has already been signed up for a league team in advance of him turning 18 in a few years. Watch out all you seasoned players there's a young shark joining the pack very soon.
Ninian McAlister sponsor of the competition presented Marcus with the first prize of a Ronnie O'Sullivan quality two piece cue and tubular case. To be followed up with an Isle of Bute Pool League logo donned polo embelished with 'Youth Champion 2011' underneath the logo.
Conner Toon runner-up in the competition was given a few chances in the match but failed to finish when the opportunity arose. Conner also had not lost a game until the final. Ninian McAlister presented Connor with the second prize a Ronnie O'Sullivan two piece cue and soft case
Well done Marcus, unlucky Connor

Mike McHardy takes the Island Masters 2010 title in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis / Harris.
This competition was held on the 5th & 6th November. It is limited to 32 entries as the Caledonian Hotel in Stornoway has only two pool tables. Total prize money this year was over £1000 plus trophies for the winner and runner-up. £500 of the prize fund went to the winner, £200 to the Runner-up, £125 to semi finalists and £20 to the quarter finalists.
Mike's is delighted to win this competition on his second attempt as he lost out to the previous title holder Mike Griffin from Inverness in the first round last year.
"I was 2-0 down in the first round against a young lad from Harris but struggled through to a 5-2 win. Next I played an Irishman who seemed to be able to double a ball form anywhere with his eyes closed, I was 5-1 down to him eventually winning 6-5 with a double of my own on the black into the corner pocket, that was a difficult match. In the quarter final I played Murdo McLeod from Stornoway, I was down 4-1 but fought back to a 6-4 win, I met another Stornoway local David Ritchie in the semi-final, you guessed it, in this match I was also down 5-2 but won 4 in a row to win it. In the final I played David Brown, also from Lewis, I was 1 frame down after fouling a ball, but in complete contrast to my previous matches took the next 6 and needed only one more to clinch the title. David won the following 3 frames with authority and it was his break in the 11th frame. He broke potted a yellow and the white. Reds, apart from one ball were looking good, after promoting the bad ball to a pottable position a clearence was now on but needed accurate position play. I got the position required on every shot and cleared the table winning 7-4. My game had really come together at the right time. What a final. What a weekend"
